#1 Reason why Businesses Grow Slow

Last 7 Months, we went through Auditing 384 Businesses on WHAT is the #1 Reason for them to grow slower or not have a steep growth.

Our Intention and the focus of the Audit were to have a deep analysis and converging look within the Team and their mode of operations.

For the first three months, we just noticed patterns in strategies, business outlook, Marketing Platforms, and Sales Cycles.

As a Progressive Breakthrough, by month 4 — an amazing discovery struck in.

The Perspectives

How People in the company Defined Marketing, how they had a view of Business, and most essentially — what were their Primary Goals. Not as a Company, but as a Person — what were their Goals?

Now, as we went deeper and deeper into this angle of analysis, we discovered phenomenal drifts and patterns not just in strategies but also in the way Leaders and Team Members Prioritize activities and how all of these connects back to their Goal.

Out of everything else, this one company stood out:

To give you a background — this company is a thriving tech startup with dreams of revolutionizing the industry. The Two Co-Founders were visionary leaders, fueled by the passion to disrupt the market. However, as we delved into the intricate operations of their organization, a fascinating misalignment came to light.

While the Founders envisioned the company as a tech Powerhouse leading with innovation and groundbreaking solutions. Their sales team, though, had a different narrative. They were focused on Quick Wins, Hitting Monthly Targets, and Scaling deals without focusing on the hard sales that require technical innovation. While this kept the team busy executing projects that accounted for positive cash flow, the team never got resources (time primarily!) to Innovate and explore.

This being on one side of the equation, the Marketing Team focused on Long term Brand Narrative focusing on customer loyalty and market positioning instead of exploratory next-level Projects and interest in Research and Development.

The Growth Conflict:

This divergence in perspective created a silent tug-of-war within the company. The Founders were aiming for the stars, while Sales & Marketing were navigating their orbits. The lack of cohesion in their approach not only affected efficiency but hindered the company’s potential for explosive growth.

When we went in deeper on what caused this, we realised the primary reason sadly were the Founders themselves.

The Contradicting Focus on Increasing Profits, Innovation, and the company’s positioning is a result of the Founder’s KPI measures and the systems they have set.

The Sales Team thrives on deals closed — so they focus on Quantity rather than Quality. The Marketing Team needs positive conversations, growth, and new followers. So they focus on what brings the results the best.

Once we noticed this, we were sure something had to change.

We worked with their Team to bring up a new Sales System that works without the dependence on the Sales Team (yes! An Organic Automated Sales System that works on Sales Funnel) and shift the paradigm of Marketing to Internal Narratives rather than just industry-based insights and product capabilities.

This helped them showcase the innovation that they wanted to bring in and bring the audience closer to the Founders and the company’s Vision. Finally, we helped them create cognitive wireframes and customer journey maps to guide the audience who want to work on exploratory projects while creating effort-based KPIs for their Team.

This way, we were able to make a massive transformation, especially in the Client’s thought process and the Founder’s Mindset to enable them to think from a different Mental Model.
